Amazon.com Review

When the aroma of freshly brewed coffee--from freshly ground beans--wafts into your bedroom in the morning, you won't need your alarm clock. Preset this coffeemaker for your desired wake-up time, add coffee beans to the grinder, and in the morning the beans are ground to a medium grind and hot coffee awaits in the 10-cup stainless steel, double-wall insulated thermal carafe. You can also program the machine to start brewing at the end of a dinner party to avoid having to get up from the table, or to have hot coffee waiting after a brisk winter walk. When making fewer than five cups of coffee, use the 1-to-4-cups setting to improve extraction and heat; coffeemakers without this setting often lack the time to heat up properly, and coffee comes out cooler. A disposable charcoal filter removes chlorine and odors from tap water, improving coffee flavor, and should be changed every few months. Other features include the capacity to use preground coffee instead of beans; 30-second Brew Pause, which allows a cup be poured before brewing is complete; and an audible tone to indicate the pot is ready. The grinder removes for easy cleaning, and all removable parts can be washed safely in the upper rack of a dishwasher. The Cuisinart Grind and Brew measures 15 by 8 by 7-1/2 inches, and comes with a three-year warranty. --Ann Bieri

Editor's note: This is a reconditioned coffeemaker. Reconditioned generally means that the machine has been returned to the manufacturer, who brings the unit back to like-new condition. Some products may contain cosmetic blemishes.

  • Grinds coffee beans and brews coffee at preset time
  • Charcoal filter eliminates chlorine and odors from tap water
  • Brushed stainless-steel, double-wall insulated thermal 10-cup carafe
  • Grinder removes for easy clean-up; brew-pause for mid-brew pour
  • Measures 15 by 8 by 7-1/2 inches, Included 90-Day Warranty

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it!, January 19, 2007

This review is from: Factory-Reconditioned Cuisinart DGB-600BCFR Grind & Brew Coffeemaker, Brushed Chrome (Kitchen)
Ok, ok, I have read the reviews. A friend gave me this coffee maker after she had the same experience as other reviewers. She had messes on the counter, floor, etc., and practically threw it at me. Well I've had it for a year now and it's been perfect. I have a feeling that the users who had problems didn't push the filter door in firmly enough. It has to "click" in place. The only problem I've had is that my guests drink up the coffee too fast and I end up making another pot.
As far as cleaning... most of the time I just rinse off the parts and let them dry. Every now and then I dump the parts in the dishwasher. How difficult is that? Also, since the coffee maker doesn't have a hot plate, I preheat the carafe with hot tap water.

Maybe we just got lucky with ours. We bought one of the reconditioned ones about a year ago. We use it nearly every day, sometimes more then once a day. I really wanted a coffee pot with a grinder built in, and one that used a metal carafe was required. I was sick of always having to clean up the grind mess on the counters from our other coffee grinders we have used in the past. I have had both the single type and the burr grinders. After time they always made a mess with spilled grinds, and my husband wasn't very good about wiping them up.

We haven't had any issues with this grinder leaking or spilling. As long as you are careful and make sure the lid is closed on the carafe, it seems to pour okay. The carafe keeps the coffee hot for a couple hours, and if I make coffee in the evening, it will still be warm in the morning. (this is not something you can say for a pot with a heating element. We stopped using those years ago b/c i couldn't stand the taste of... Read more

i dont often add a review, but after reading all these negative reviews, i had to put in my two-cents' worth.

I've had this machine for 3 years, and another family member for 5. That itself says alot. I'm an avid coffee drinker and work the machine at least 5 days a week (once/day). So this thing is obviously pretty reliable. and i didn't read all of the reviews, but i did not have any problems with filters popping out randomly or anything else.

But when I did my own reseach on this before purchasing, I remember reading about 2 faults, which remain true:
1) the grind is a bit coarse. The only thing this affects is that you have to use a tad bit more of your coffee beans to reach the same level of coffee flavor. non-issue.
2) have quite a few pieces to clean. In fact, have 2 pieces for grinder, 3 pieces for filter/basket/lid, and 2 pieces for thermos lid/thermos. I personally think the freshness and aroma of the coffee is worth this little... Read more

This review is from: Cuisinart Grind & Brew 12-cup 24 Hour Programmable Coffee Maker
After having several drip coffee makers (both inexpensive and VERY expensive), this is the best for the following reasons:

- low noise grinder
- makes a full pot in less time
- easy to clean
- at a glance look at remaining coffee (can't do this with a carafe)
- reasonable price, good warranty
- Best of all, it makes a delicious cup of coffee

2.0 out of 5 stars Not for coffee lovers, November 20, 2010

This review is from: Cuisinart Grind & Brew 12-cup 24 Hour Programmable Coffee Maker
The machine works OK. There's nothing wrong with it. But basically it makes what I call "truck-stop coffee." This is coffee for the non-discriminating coffee drinker. Now I'm not a coffee snob - I'll drink truck stop coffee - but I don't want it at home! I've been making coffee with a burr grinder and a cone-style filter since the 1970's and I've grown used to a cup of gourmet coffee in the morning. When my Krups Grind and Brew died (excellent gourmet coffeemaker by the way), I decided to give the Cuisinart a try because it was cheaper.

I've had this coffeemaker for two weeks and I'm already shopping for a replacement. First of all, it uses flat-bottom "basket" style coffee filters (Mr. Coffee-type filters), not the cone-style filters that are well known to produce better coffee. This info was not in any of the online descriptions or reviews. Secondly, it does not have a grinder--not like the Capresso of Krups machines. Instead, it has a rotary blade chopper... Read more

The Cuisinart DCC-1250SA Grind and Brew is by far the best coffee machine I have ever owned. The coffee is so fresh with the grind feature and the water is a great temparature. This machine has saved me hundreds of dollars in two short months as I get the highest quality coffee in my own kitchen. I feel bad for Tim Hortons and Dunkin Donuts as they have lost a customer. I highly recommend this product! It is so good, I purchased a second for my parents who are thrilled with the product.

This review is from: Capresso 465 CoffeeTeam TS 10-Cup Digital Coffeemaker with Conical Burr Grinder and Thermal Carafe (Kitchen)
Let me start by saying that I've been a big fan of grind and brew coffee makers. I know full well what to expect. My last grind and brew was a Cuisinart DGB-550 which means I was already accustomed to cleaning 7 different parts every time I made a pot of coffee and having my cats run for cover when the grinding began. The Cusinart had served me well for over a year but I really wanted something with a thermal carafe and I was excited for the prospect of a burr grinder. On weekends it can take me hours to drink a pot and I hated having my coffee cook during that time. Not to mention the wasted electricity while keeping that carafe piping hot for hours.

PROS
====
1) Conical burr grinder. The burr modules spin at lower speeds than standard burr grinders, imparting less heat to the beans.
2) SUPER easy clean up. I don't think anyone can beat this model when it comes to clean up. Just 4 parts -- 3 if you use paper filters. The carafe, carafe lid,... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Huge Design Update!! Happy to Have the Coffee Fairies Back!, December 2, 2009

This review is from: Capresso 465 CoffeeTeam TS 10-Cup Digital Coffeemaker with Conical Burr Grinder and Thermal Carafe (Kitchen)
I usually buy through Amazon, but ordered from another site because I didn't want to wait another 3 weeks Amazon Time to get my hands on this coffee maker. I've had it for a little over a week now, it replaces a 7 year old Capresso CoffeeTeam, and I love the new design. The most noticeable design change is the narrow profile with direct feed grinding, thankfully doing away with the notoriously cantankerous swing-arm. I'm also glad to upgrade to the thermal carafe this time around, I don't always get around to drinking my coffee when I intend to, so it's nice not to have the coffee burning on the warmer. This is the best grind-and-brew system around, but there are still some tweaks Capresso could make to bring this to perfection.

1.) The thermal carafe is designed in a way that makes it impossible to get every last drop of coffee out, you'll always end out with 2-3 tablespoons of sad wasted coffee in the bottom. (I guess you could use a straw if you were desperate!)... Read more

This review is from: Capresso 465 CoffeeTeam TS 10-Cup Digital Coffeemaker with Conical Burr Grinder and Thermal Carafe (Kitchen)
I can't say enough about this machine. I bought this baby about 3 weeks ago and I could not be happier. Let me start by simply saying this combination grinder/brewer makes the BEST COFFEE I've ever tasted out of a home machine. And, after all, isn't that the most important thing? There are multiple user available tool to change the coarsness of the grind, the amount of grounds that enter the filter, and the "aroma" of the overall process. If you like strong coffee the 10 setting, even with a full pot, is as strong as any cup of Starbucks I've ever had. If you like "weaker coffee" you can can simply reduce the amount of beans you use. So, for coffee taste and flexibility/adjustability this machine gets an A+

Probably the next most important thing is the appearance. We looked at the Coffeeteam Therm - I really liked the idea of the grinding process being separated from the brewing process. That seemed important to avoid the problem the Cuisinart's have where the... Read more
